Beyond Church Doors takes a deeper look into the life of Nikolis McQuaige, affectionately known to her friends and church family as NikkiMac.

I love how the story begins by introducing readers to the history of the town where NikkiMac grew up. The author paints a picture of a once-thriving downtown community that has since deteriorated, reflecting on the changes that have taken place over the years. Through NikkiMac's observations, readers gain insight into what she appreciates about her hometown and what she wishes had remained different. This opening provides a meaningful backdrop for the story that unfolds.

One of the book's greatest strengths is its character development, particularly in the way NikkiMac interacts with the people in her life. Throughout this installment, we see her in a different light as she takes on the roles of supporter, listener, and trusted confidante. She offers sound advice, extends friendship, and provides encouragement to those who need someone to lean on.

Unlike the first novel, which placed greater emphasis on NikkiMac's own Christian walk, this story shifts its focus toward the lives and personal struggles of those around her. This change adds depth to the storyline and allows readers to become more familiar with the individual characters, their circumstances, and the challenges they face. Through her interactions with them, NikkiMac demonstrates the importance of being present for others, offering love and understanding, and sometimes simply lending a listening ear.

I truly enjoyed this continuation of NikkiMac's life, both within the church and beyond its doors. The story offers a refreshing perspective on the many ways we can touch the lives of others through friendship, compassion, wisdom, and genuine concern. Behind and Beyond Church Doors reminds us that life, faith, and meaningful relationships extend far beyond the walls of the church.
