An intriguing and excellent read that kept me attentive and wondering what is coming next. I was curious from the beginning because when most people think of pirates and their looting and plundering the first thought is male pirates. Not the case at all with the main character Brandy. Not only does she hold her own as a pirate but honestly exceeds in many ways.

When I began reading this book I thought it might be a simple tale of a pirate's adventure and it was adventurous but it was also so much more. The author kept the storyline very realistic and this kept me wanting more!!! There was quite a bit to learn about the slave trade of the time from those who took place to those who wanted it stopped.

There was a good amount of history on the motivation for many of the pirates and people of the time period. Chinese herbal medicine as well as many other things were brought up in the story. A very excellent history lesson on many subjects. This captivated me as I read.

The author did such a good job with building the characters up and keeping the storyline moving. I was very impressed on all aspects. A very nice approach to adventurous, historical fiction along with a strong female lead character had me loving each page as I read through the book.
